FAQs

  • Before & After School Care

We offer Before & After School Care programs at each of our campus sites. These range in offerings across the four campuses. These programs are facilitated by the local councils that our campuses are in (Golden Plains Shire for Ross Creek, Smythesdale & Scarsdale, Pyrenees Shire for Snake Valley).

For more information about the Before & After School Care programs offered at each campus please contact the specific campus that you are inquiring about.

  • Year Level Structures

Generally, we use composite grade structures across our four sites. The use of composite classes allows for balanced class sizes, flexibility in planning across our campuses and ensuring we place students in the most appropriate class to support their learning.

Generally, the Junior PLC (professional learning community) comprises of Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students, our Middle PLC comprises students in year 3 and year 4 and our Senior PLC comprises our year 5 and year 6 students.

  • Day/Time Structures

Students are expected to attend school each. Punctuality and a high level of attendance ensures students receive the best opportunity to learn to their full potential and build positive social friendships with others. The structure of our school day is:

8.50am-9.00am: Before School (all students in classrooms)

    9:00 – 11:00 Learning time (with a 10:00 am fruit/healthy food break)

    11:30 – 1:30 Learning time

    1:30 – 2:30 Lunch

    2:30 – 3:30 Learning time

  • Fees

    Parent Payments

Each year our school council approves the following years parent payment arrangements for each year level. At least 6 weeks prior to the end of the school year, we communicate these payments to our school community, to enable parents to plan and budget accordingly.

As a school we do not ask parents to pay for school operating costs (e.g. utility costs) or general and unspecified charges. Instead, we are very transparent and upfront with the following year’s approximate costs.

Each year, for each year level our school will request payments from parents under three categories:

    Essential Student Learning Items

    ● Items and activities which the school deems essential for student learning (classroom package)

    ● Parents may choose to purchase essential items through the school or provide their own.

    Classroom Package

Option A:   purchasing a student classroom package through the school, which will include all the necessary items required by the student. This package will be given to students once payment has been received or a payment plan has started (50% first payment).  The bulk ordering of the student classroom package has allowed us to keep prices to a minimum and is GST free.  This option also includes payment of the curriculum materials charge.

Option B:   purchasing your child’s classroom package as listed on the booklist through retail outlets. These retail prices will include GST.  If this option is chosen parents should ensure that correct books, line size etc are adhered to. There is an expectation that all students have a complete classroom package ready to commence the school year.  If you choose Option B the school will forward a copy of the student classroom package list.  Payment of the curriculum materials will have to be made directly to the school.

    Optional Items

Items and activities that enhance or broaden the schooling experience of students and are offered in addition to the standard curriculum.

These are provided to students on a user-pays basis.

    Voluntary Contributions

Voluntary contributions support the school to continue to be the best local school for all students and can be for general or specific purpose.

Students will not be disadvantaged in any way if parents do not make a contribution.
