From the Principal

Welcome to Woady Yaloak Primary School!

On behalf of our staff, I warmly welcome you to our wonderful school.

Located just 10 minutes west of Ballarat, Woady Yaloak Primary School is a unique four-campus school, with sites in Smythesdale, Snake Valley, Scarsdale, and Ross Creek. We offer the best of both worlds by combining the charm and close-knit community of small rural campuses with the facilities, program, and extra-curricular opportunities of a larger school.

Our students learn in state-of-the-art buildings, following a comprehensive upgrade of all campuses completed in 2024. These enhancements ensure that our students and staff have the very best physical environment to achieve their personal best.

Our school values—Excellence, Respect, and Responsibility—are embraced by our staff, students, and wider community, and underpin our school motto, “Achieving Together.” This motto reflects the unity of our four campuses as one school community.

At Woady Yaloak Primary School, our teaching, learning, and wellbeing programs are guided by a Multi-Tiered System of Supports. This three-tiered framework addresses students’ academic, behavioural, and mental health needs, providing:

    • Tier 1: Universal support for all students
    • Tier 2: Targeted and early intervention
    • Tier 3: Intensive, individualised support

This approach ensures that every student receives the right level of support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our skilled educators use evidence-based, high-impact teaching strategies to ensure all students are supported in their learning.

Community is at the heart of Woady Yaloak. Our teaching, administrative, and support staff work closely with parents, carers, and the wider community to build strong, positive partnerships that help our students succeed.

We host a wide range of events across our campuses, including Special Person’s Days, art shows, Performing Arts concerts, colour runs, and much more. Students also have the chance to build friendships and connections across our four sites through our extensive camp and excursion programs.

I am proud of the supportive and inclusive environment our school provides, and warmly invite parents and carers to contact me directly if they would like to discuss our school.
