Welcome to Week 6. Please take a moment to read about the great learning and activities taking place at the Snake Valley Campus.
From the Campus Head
We have now reached the halfway point of term two, and the wind and chill of winter is beginning to set in at The Valley. Despite the cold weather setting in, it has been a productive beginning of term- time is flying past. All our wonderful teachers and students have been working hard on assessments in preparation for semester one reports. We have been encouraging all students to try their best and they have all succeeded. We constantly have happy faces around the campus, with our students enjoying their time with their friends at recess and lunchtime and working hard in the classroom to achieve their academic goals.
Last week we celebrated Education Week with a range of activities at the campus. It was a wonderful celebration of the learning that occurs at Snake Valley and an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on the reasons why Woady Yaloak is a fantastic school.
This week we will be celebrating our incredible Education Support Officer (ESO) team. We would like to thank Rhonda, Anna, Kim and Chloe for their hard work and dedication to our school. Your continuous support for our students and teachers makes Woady a truly amazing place to learn. This week is also National Reconciliation Week. All classes will have an opportunity to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements.
We’re heading into the colder part of the year, please ensure your children have warm clothes on, and have a spare pair of clothes in their schoolbag in case they get wet during playtimes. If children are feeling unwell, we kindly ask that they stay home to ensure illnesses are not passed on to others.
We hope everyone enjoys the last half of the term. If you need anything, please see your child’s teacher or come and see me. Thank you to all parents and community members for your ongoing support.
LDSSA WINTER SPORTS – Smythesdale Recreation Reserve
Last Friday, our students had a fantastic time at the LDSSA Winter Sports, held at the newly renovated Smythesdale Recreation Reserve. It was a wonderful day, with a great atmosphere and an excellent opportunity to come together as a wider school community.
We extend our sincere thanks to the organising staff and the entire LDSSA team for their efforts in coordinating such a successful event. The day ran smoothly, and the positive spirit across all schools was evident, complemented by perfect weather.
As the LDSSA concludes its joint events for this year, we look forward to continuing our involvement in division activities and future opportunities as they arise. Well done to all students for their participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship—it was fantastic to see.
CASUAL CLOTHES DAY- THURSDAY 4th JUNE
On Thursday 4th June we will be holding our casual clothes day at the campus. This month’s casual clothes day fundraiser will be donated to Motor Neuron Disease (MND). On this day we ask all students to wear blue and bring in a gold coin donation.
Snake Valley will be holding its own ‘Big Freeze- Little Freeze’. Each student who brings in a gold coin donation on the day will have their name placed in a raffle. The chosen student from the raffle will then have an opportunity to dunk a bucket of ice-cold water on Mrs Tung head at the end of the day.
Captains Chat
Last week, all the Grade fours, fives and sixes did Winter Sports. The sports were AFL, netball, soccer and indoor sports. Last Friday at the Snake Valley campus, we went on a walk for walk to school day. In two weeks time our Parents and Friends are running a Pizza Lunch Day.
